Viva La Diva Viva La Diva

Viva La Diva saw classical singer Katherine Jenkins team up with acclaimed dancer Darcey Bussell for a series of sold out shows. The idea behind the collaboration was for the two women to showcase their considerable talents and try out each others disciplines. The end result is a thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours.

Both Jenkins and Bussell saw Viva La Diva as a way of paying tribute to their idols and the people that have inspired them throughout their careers so far. For Jenkins that includes Doris Day, Natalie Wood and Maria Callas whilst for Bussell it's Cyd Charisse, Fred Astaire and Moira Shearer The show hangs together fairly impressively with the two women complementing, rather than overshadowing, each other.

The undeniable highlights are the moments when the two women perform together. It's delightful watching them have fun by stepping out of their comfort zone. Jenkins is a better dancer than Bussell is a singer but that doesn't really matter as both women pull it off with incredible confidence. When they perform Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend together they really sparkle and the chemistry between the two is electric.

Extras on the disc include an interview with Jenkins and Bussell where they talk about their reasons for doing the show.

Viva La Diva took us by surprise. The experience is thoroughly enjoyable and Jenkins and Bussell truly shine. The show is unique and we've never seen anything luke this on such a grand scale. Viva La Diva is terrific fun and we think it'll make a great present this Christmas.
