Introducing Laura Izibor, who releases her incredible new single From My Heart To Yours through Atlantic Records on 10th November.
Born and raised in Dublin, the piano-playing 20 year-old has already won accolades usually reserved for more established artists - Hot Press recently declared her to be "undoubtedly one of the greatest voices Ireland has ever produced, a brilliant soul singer, an exceptional performer and a fine songwriter. Stylistically compared to seminal soul singers such as Candi Staton, Roberta Flack, and early Aretha Franklin - but stamped with her own unique, refreshing twist - From My Heart To Yours is a fitting display of a formidable talent at work. It is the first single to be taken from her forthcoming debut album Let The Truth Be Told. The album, which Laura wrote 100% herself and also co-produced, was recorded in Dublin, New York, Atlanta and Philadelphia and will be released in January 2009.
Already seasoned in the live performance arena, Laura has performed numerous sold-out shows in Ireland, as well as opening for luminaries such as Angie Stone, James Brown, The Roots, Jamie Cullum and Al Green. She also guested with Nitin Sawhney at the BBC Electric Proms in London in 2006. Laura's music has been included on several movie and TV soundtracks, including the Nanny Diaries, starring Scarlett Johanssen, the Hilary Swank film P.S. I Love You, and the hit TV shows Grey's Anatomy and MTV's The Hills. She is also currently writing with Nitin Sawhney for his new album which is due for release later this year.
Introduced to the piano at 13 years old and having played ever since, Laura made Irish music history in 2006 by becoming the first unreleased artist ever be nominated and to win a Meteor Irish Music Awards (Ireland's Brit Award). Having shaped and honed her signature sound, and about to release her stunning debut, 2009 looks set to be an incredible year for Laura. Expect big things.
