Jamelia

Biography

Jamelia has been around longer than most people think. She released some singles in 2000 before becoming pregnant and taking some time out to raise her child. She had modest success but it wasn't until she made her comeback in 2003 that she became the household name she is now. Jamelia's second chance at success was almost ruined though by the bad choice of a comeback single. She released Bout in 2003 after successfully supporting Justin Timberlake on the UK leg of his tour and the single just scraped into the Top 40. After a quick rethink the single was followed up with Superstar which went on to become one of the songs of the year. The catchy number put Jamelia back on the pop spectrum and has since allowed her to build up a great catalogue of hit singles and a sizeable fanbase.

Next single Thank You was another huge success and narrowly missed the number 1 spot thanks to Peter Andre's rather bizarre revival following his appearance on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. Jamelia began to really make waves in the music industry and caught the attention of a certain Coldplay frontman - Chris Martin. Chris wrote a track for Jamelia which was to be added to the album in a repackage. The track See It In A Boy's Eyes smashed into the Top 10 and sales of the album Thank You rocketed. The album has sold somewhere in the region of 400,000 copies and was helped along by a cover of the Sam Brown classic Stop for Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason doubled with another album track DJ which gave Jamelia another Top 10 hit.

Following the success of the album Jamelia has completed her first headline tour and is rumoured to be in talks to be in the next Bond movie. She is also currently writing and recording new tracks for her next album which should see the light of day next year after the birth of her second child in October. For a girl from Birmingham this girl's done good.
