Ashlee Simpson's move from acting into music was pretty obvious really wasn't it? After all Ashlee's big sis Jessica SImpson has made quite a name for herself all over the globe thanks to her incredible voice, her ditzy personality and her addictive reality show The Newlyweds. Ashlee's foray into music owes more to her sister than she would probably admit. She launched her music career with her very own reality TV show which documented the youngest Simpson sibling moving from a perfect blonde to a rock chick brunette.

Ashlee first assaulted the charts last year with her debut album Autobiography, a collection of pop rock tunes that Avril Lavigne would be proud to put her name to we're sure. The lead single Pieces Of Me was a huge radio hit across the world and gave Ashlee her first Top 10 hit in the UK. It seemed that Ms Simpson could do no wrong. She was outselling her sister on both sides of the Atlantic and the album was a huge success in most parts of the world. Unfortunately for Ashlee she was goin to have prove herself more than she had expected when she was caught miming during a supposed live performance. Now in the UK we all know this isn't a crime when you consider how many people mime on TV shows but in the States this was a huge deal and Ashlee was hit with all sorts of absurd claims. She quickly released another single La La (the best track on the album) and has disappeared out of the limelight for a while to put that incident behind her and concentrate on her next album.

Whether she mimes or not there is no escaping that Ashlee's brand of girl rock is infectious. Her voice holds its own and she growls and purrs her way over guitar riffs with a great ease. Highlights on the album include Shadow, Sorry and Undiscovered. With rumours abound that the next album will have an 80s vibe it'll be interesting to see if Ashlee can win back the public and also do the business in the UK - something she and her sister have not quite achieved yet.
